Winter crops treatment

Application of herbicide. The sowing of winter wheat by direct sowing seed drills on sown fallows leads to the intensified development of weeds from the fall, which is promoted by prolonged warm weather. Such crops must be sprayed with herbicides in the spring. The best time for spraying crops with a herbicide is the end of the tillering phase, when winter wheat has developed well and has grown enough strong. Spraying at the stem elongation phase and before earing can lead to damage and reduce the grain yield. We use herbicides such as Secateurs and others in the 1-2-nd interstitial phase of culture, they are allowed to be used in this phase of development.

Crop protection from pests and diseases. In spring the vegetation is renewed, and complex of infectious diseases develops on wheat crops: root rot, powdery mildew, rust, leaves blotch, etc. Winter wheat is one of the most affected crops and requires constant phytopathological control. In the period of intensive growth of stems, most diseases do not attract attention, since their development lags behind the rate of leaf formation, but they accumulate the infectious potential in the lower tier of crops. In order to limit the spread and severity from the stem elongation phase to earing crops were sprayed with fungicides. At least two fungicide treatments should be planned for the reliable protection of high-yielding winter wheat. The first spraying is advisable in the phase of the beginning of stem elongation with pesticides based on benomil, carbendazim, triticonazole, strobilurins, imazalil and others. With a high quantity of pests (cereal thrips, etc.), crops in the beginning of the stem elongation are sprayed with insecticides such as: pyrethroids, diazinone, imidacloprid and other recommended products. It should to spraying crops with the recommended retardant (Modus, Anti-stick, Tse-Tse-Tse 750) to prevent lodging of the stems in the same phase (the beginning of stem elongation).

Thus, to protect winter wheat from a complex of adverse factors (diseases, pests, lodging) on the base of agrobiological control at the beginning of the stem elongation phase, it is expediently to spray the crops with a cistern mixture of agrochemicals (double or triple), including fungicide, insecticide and retardant.

The base for the rational use of crop protection products is a constant monitoring of the dynamics of phytosanitary conditions of winter wheat. It enables to set the time and the necessary multiplicity of fungicides and insecticides application.
